SCOTT GAMBLE

Scott Gamble has almost twenty years of technical and operations/management experience in the waste management industry. While he also works on waste collection, transfer and disposal projects, Scott specializes in organic waste management and is recognized for his knowledge in composting system design and operations.

During the past few years, Scott has been involved on a number of consulting and design assignments for clients across Canada and internationally including Metro Vancouver (formerly GVRD), City of Calgary, the University of Alberta, Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (California), City of Christchurch (New Zealand), University of Calgary, a private resort development near Dubai (United Arab Emirates), and the Regional Municipality of Niagara (Ontario). He is currently undertaking a financial review of landfill operations for the City of Kelowna, developing operations manuals for two composting facilities in Western Canada, and assisting the City of Guelph (Ontario) with the redevelopment of their in-vessel composting facility which was closed in 2006.

Additionally, Scott has extensive operating experience at waste facilities. Over the past ten years, he has worked at or managed a number of landfill and composting facilities including several regional landfills and composting facilities in the Edmonton area, and the first operational Gore composting facility in North America. Prior to joining CH2M HILL, Scott was manager of the City of Calgary’s East Calgary Compost Facility, and a Senior Manager at the City of Edmonton’s 150,000 tonne per year co-composting facility.

Scott is actively involved in the organics industry as the Chairman of the Composting Council of Canada (CCC) and manager of the CCC’s National Operator Certification Program. He was also one of three compost producer representatives that took part in the Canada’s National Composting Quality Standard update process, and is also currently writing a new guidance document for compost facility design and operation to support Alberta Environment’s new compost regulatory scheme.
