Dear MARR Members and Guests:
With just one week to go, after a more-condensed-than-usual
planning period, our Forum is shaping up nicely. MARR is very
appreciative of the opportunity offered by Green Manitoba
and Manitoba Conservation Pollution Prevention Branch to add
timely grassroots value to their November 2nd meetings with
Stewards and likewise grateful to the Stewards themselves
who agreed to stick around an extra day to meet and consult
with us.
We thank those who have already registered and encourage
members who have not yet done so to review the Agenda www.marrmb.com/2011forum/agenda.pdf
and make the commitment to attend. It is critical
to have strong municipal representation at this event, especially
at the council and administration levels, if we are to
have input in how programs are managed.
MARR's motto
for this Day-2 Forum reflects the 3 Rs so critical to successful
systems: Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships.
Never before have we been so much in it together. Whether welcoming
historic new programs or sustaining and shaping those already
established, regular forums in which we sincerely take a day’s
walk in the others’ shoes will help create an environment
of communication and collaboration that could well become the
envy of other jurisdictions.
To promote
this relationship-building process in a manner mindful of tight
timelines and practical objectives, Stewards have been asked
to limit presentation slides and alternatively consider the
following points of perspective that will guide discussion:
Where do we all interface, and specifically with whom, in
real-time scenarios?
What
are our own specific responsibilities and do we accurately
understand others’?
What are the primary challenges respective to these responsibilities
and why?
What
communication protocols exist to address those challenges
as well as inevitable ongoing issues and inquiries?
Panel participants
will include MARR representatives and our facilitators will
also be looking for member contributions from the floor in regard
to these same four questions. Post-forum, MARR will collate
an event report with additional identified challenges that will
help determine the need for, and scheduling of, follow-up meetings.
Thank you
in advance for your participation and support as MARR reaffirms
its role as the voice of Manitoba’s regional recyclers.

Clark, Executive Director
